Dos de Mayo

So right now I should actually be studying for finals seeing as I have 5 this upcoming week, but I got distracted...what else is new.

I love Madrid and the nightlife, but I absolutely hate waking up late in the day. I feel like a waste of life, especially when you are living abroad. I could sleep late in Syracuse or Sugar Land, but I am in Europe...so I feel like every minute is precious.

Without a doubt this weekend ranked up there on the top weekends since I have been here. I just felt so carefree and could help smiling.

Done with the reflection for now. This weekend was an important holiday for Spain, but Madrid mainly. Se llama Dos de Mayo. It happened in 1808, which makes this year the bicenntenial. Basically it is about the uprising of the Madrillians against the invading French troops under the command of a famous short man...Neapoleon Bonaparte. He put his brother Joseph on the Spanish throne and this caused all types of issues before and after. Neopoleon tricked/ took control of the Spanish fleet... they ended up fighting with the British and HORACIO NELSON. Such and such. You want information, Wiki it.

Anyway this weekend was riddled with celebrations. I am kicking myself in the ass slightly for not going and seeing more of the shows that were scattered in the main plazas of the city. I did get to see the horses though... they were magnificent. I really wish I wasn't so damn allergic to horses! Maybe by the time I am older science will have invented a more powerful medicine or allergy shot whereby I can suppress my allergy.

Yeah, its 8:40 I gotta work.
